It can sound like a weird idea: get a perfectly good cake, then take photos of your approx. 12-month-old making a real mess of it. But cake smashes are growing in popularity – and they’re a lot of fun for everyone involved! And I just love doing them!!!!

Cake smash photography sessions started in America a few years ago, but the trend has since made its way into Aussie families hearts and homes and is a great way to celebrate getting through one of the most steep learning curves you and your baby will ever face.

The cake smash photos are usually done around your baby’s first birthday – A CELEBRATION!!!! The photos are often used on your first birthday party invitations, on the cake table at your first birthday party or just to mark the milestone.

The cake smash session is often the first time your baby has eaten much cake, if anything sweet at all, and the first time they’ve been allowed to do whatever they want with it – whether it’s face-planting, putting icing in their hair, or knocking the whole thing over then crawling through it.

The most important thing – for both you and your child – is to have fun! And that’s where I come in. I organise all your decorations (to coincide with your choice of colour scheme) and can even organise the cake for you!
