It was such an honour to be hosting the amazingly talented Amy McDaniel from Dewdrops Photography by Amy McDaniel for her Gold Coast Newborn Photography Workshop. As a newborn photographer, meeting your idols is like a One Direction concert, so exciting and daunting and you just hope when you meet them, you don’t spit or have lettuce on your teeth. So, when I found out that Amy wanted to know more about the JinBei Ball light that Kelly Brown from Little Pieces by Kelly Brown, uses (supplied by ProTog, see her amazing blog post about it here), I just knew I had to get the two of them together. As a Melbourne Newborn Photographer, I was sooooo excited when I approached Kelly and she so aptly said “call on by and I’ll make you afternoon tea”. Totally down to earth and so willing to share her craft, even with her very crazy schedule (she was about to leave for her Creative Live jaunt, has just finished her AIPP award winning run, and was about to head off to the WPPI awards). Kelly happily welcomed us all into her home and Mary Wheatley, Amy McDaniel and myself all spent the afternoon with her. I actually had to pinch myself at one stage, there was I chewing the fat in Kelly’s kitchen over coffee with the uber talented duo who are completely my Newborn Photography idols.
We talked about Kelly’s animoto videos, her Creative Live exploits, Amy and Kelly’s workshops in general, newborn safety and life in general as well for these very busy and extremely talented women. Listening to Kelly and Amy’s passion for Newborn Photography was incredible and I feel so honoured to have been able to have spent the afternoon with these two amazing women.
We then went for dinner to the Kenmore Tavern just around the corner from Kelly’s house and had a scrumptious dinner xxx
Amy and Kelly you both rock and I love your integrity, honesty and most of all your enthusiasm about all things Newborn Photography related.
If you are a Newborn Photographer and you haven’t heard of Creative Live, Kelly is so amazing in her classes and is currently running the Creative Live Newborn Bootcamp for not only Melbourne Newborn Photographers but also for all Newborn Photogaphers worldwide right through to April 11.
